The New American Rum Revolution seminar will be an important component of next month’s Tales of the Cocktail convention in New Orleans. According to the editors of Robs Rum Guide, the individuals that will be hosting the seminar, the rum program is a reaction to the increase in the number of rum distillers around the country. Giving some insight into the trend, Robert A. Burr, publisher of Robs Rum Guide, proclaimed, “It’s nothing short of a rum revolution – changing the American rum industry, bringing back the art of craft distilling, presenting American rum in a most favorable light by emphasizing the quality of small production.” It’s no surprise that craft distilling is responsible for the comeback, as it seems to be positively benefiting every category in the industry. At the rum event, panelists to see will be Trey Litel from Bayou Rum, Bob Gunter from Koloa Rum Company, and Steven Gubb from Gubba Rum. In addition, there will be sampling session of various American rums. The seminar will start at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, July 20 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon Street.
