Beer is still the leading alcoholic beverage of choice for consumers in the U.S. market. A full 4 out of 10 alcohol consumers say that they most often drink beer. 3 out of 10 alcohol consumers prefer wine and 26 percent elect for spirits. That percentage for spirits is the highest in Gallup’s 25-year trend. Typically the number has been closer to 20 percent. Beer has typically been the preferred alcoholic beverage of choice in the U.S. according to Gallup.
A total of 62 percent of Americans consume alcohol, which is consistent with historical trends. While a rising number of Americans completely abstain from alcohol, up to 38 percent this year.
