The Queen has begun producing wine from her estate, Windsor Great Park Estate, producing roughly 3,000 bottles this past year. Even the Queen recognizes an opportunity with the English sparkling wine industry booming. English sparkling wine has become so popular in fact that the UK is now shipping it out to 27 countries and annuals sales have grown to about 100 million pounds.
This isn’t the first time a noble has produced a wine for general consumption. One of the Queen’s ancestors, Henry II, first cultivated grapes in the 12th century at Windsor Castle.
