Chardonnay, a white wine, has risen to the second most popular wine in Washington in 2016. Winemakers in last year’s harvest brought in 45,000 tons of Chardonnay, second only to Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is traditionally associated with the French region of Burgundy and Chablis. Washington’s oldest and largest winery, Chateau Ste. Michelle, is famous for its Riesling. Ste. Michelle makes more of that wine than any other winery in the world.
