For calendar year 2016, 9 Liter spirits case sales in control states grew by 2.8 percent. Volumetric growth was also up in 2016 at a modest rate. Dollar growth was down slightly from previous years. The largest segment growth was found in Irish Whiskey, up a robust 14.7% annual growth. Brandy/Cognac grew 9.4% annually followed closely by Tequila’s 8.4% growth.
For the first time in their history, the Control States reported more than $1 billion in shelf dollars during the month of December.
