In June, 9 liter spirits case sales grew by 7.7 percent in control states compared to June 2016, impressive growth for the month. Spirits volume grew 3 percent compared to 3.8 percent a year ago. Many states had a strong month, exceeding their 12 month trends, including: Alabama, Idaho, Montgomery County Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Vermont and Wyoming. The Price/Mix for June was 2.5 percent, improving on May’s 2 percent. June’s Control State spirits growth rate was slightly effected by the reporting calendars as there was 5 weeks in the month contributing to 10 more selling days. The fastest growing category in June remained Irish Whiskey for the fith straight month followed closely by Vodka.
