Wine and Spirits Daily retrieved a letter that was sent from FedEx to various wineries and retailers across the US that explained how the company is tightening restrictions on shipping alcohol to New York. The letter noted that FedEx has, “agreed to comply fully with all federal, state and local laws, rule and regulations and orders applicable to each shipment of alcohol.” This includes providing FedEx with documentation allowing them to ship alcohol into the state or as to why no permit was required at the time. It also mentions that “failure to respond to this request may result in the termination by FedEx of your ability to ship alcohol into the state of New York and/or through the FedEx network.” New York is one of several states that are looking into retailer and winery shipping laws for wine.
