The new store, scheduled to open in March of this year, would be the first privately owned state store to sell only “Pennsylvania spirits, wines, ciders and meads” throughout the state. The store, called Pennsylvania Libations, and located in the strip district would hold over 5,000 bottles and carry products from at least 25 different Pennsylvania manufacturers.
The state liquor control board permits the privately owned business because Pennsylvania wineries and distilleries can sell their own products, and in this case have designated Pennsylvania Libations as their agent at this single location.
