A new law will go into effect this week that will give Arizona residents more freedom to purchase out of state wine. In the past, buying wine from out of state vineyards was highly regulated for residents of the state. With the new law, “Arizonans will be able to place orders by phone, mail, or even online. Initially the limit will be up to six cases. That will increase to nine in 2018, and a dozen cases starting in 2019.” The framework will prove beneficial for both consumers and out of state suppliers. Consumers will have more freedom over their wine selection and out of state vintners will reach more of a new market. In regards to another new law in Arizona, off-premise retailers like beer and wine stores will now be able to serve samples to customers without being a minimum of 5,000 square feet in size. These legal developments in Arizona reflect the current trend of modernization of the alcohol industry in the United States.
