This past week Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signed into law the bill allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages in movie theaters. The new bill will go into effect on October 1st and allow movie theaters to start selling beer and mixed drinks without forcing theaters to separate customers into adult-only sections. Customers instead will now be required to have a handstamp or wristband which will identify them as being of legal age to consume alcohol.
The bill was first introduced last year and comes along with several other recent changes or proposed changes to the state’s current alcohol laws that bring the state forward and emulate what many other states are already doing with their alcohol laws.
