Spirit and wine distributors seem to have a positive outlook for the next 6 months. According to a study from Morgan Stanley, “Among U.S. distributors, 53 percent of our respondents are more optimistic about the next 6 months vs. 40 percent in our April survey.” Consumer confidence is high and with a healthy job market it is expected to see the consumer spring to liquor isles. The study was conducted through an online survey that included senior employees at distributors. Jameson, Woodford Reserve, Remy Martin, Bulleit Bourbon, and Gentleman Jack were among the brands with the highest optimism. Bacardi, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Absolut, and Captain Morgan were among the brands with the lowest optimism. However, the overall industry trend seems to be positive. Morgan Stanley concluded, “This should provide a solid base for the U.S. beer and spirits markets to continue to grow strongly in the second half of the year.”
