Remy Cointreau announced plans to acquire the hugely successful, Seattle-based Westland Distillery. The distillery is a $4 million, 13,000 square foot facility that has created one of the best American whiskey portfolios. “Westland is already recognized as a whiskey of exception having received many awards including this year being named ‘World Craft Producer of the Year’ by Whisky Magazine, while all three of their flagship malts have received scores of 95 points or more within the past year.” The original founder of the distillery, Emerson Lamb, has stated in the past that their goal was to make Washington state a place known for creating world class single malt whiskey. With Remy’s acquisition of the distillery, this will only help Lamb’s goal.
