There have been several well-documented pandemic drinking trends, but one trend that has flourished under the radar in 2020 is single barrel store pick whiskeys. Despite restrictions on visitors and capacity, many distilleries have adapted to allow the continuation of their single barrel selection program while still observing state and city safety regulations.
“We try to push the envelope doing new things,” says Dominic Aprea, owner of Tippins Market. “I think small, artisan distilleries like Mammoth will be the next wave in single barrels, because they offer a lot of flexibility for people like me who like to work with creative freedom.”
