The U.S. Irish Whiskey market continued its steady and ambitious growth in 2016 with value sales rising by 19.8 percent to $795 million dollars in calendar year 2016, according to Distilled Spirits Council figures. Volume sales also showed substantial growth, rising 18.7 percent to 3.8 million cases in the market over the year.
Irish Whiskey growth has been rising steadily since sales of premium and super-premium Irish Whiskey sales in the US exploded by 736 percent and 3,456 percent respectively in 2002. “Increased growth of premium Irish whiskey reflects the upward trend of adult consumers’ interest in luxury spirits products” said Frank Coleman, Distilled Spirits Council senior Vice President.
