Vodka doesn’t have the prestige or link to American history like bourbon, or the early colonial history of rum. Even without the heritage, Vodka is a part of American culture. The spirit is the most consumed liquor in the country and an American made vodka was just recently named the best vodka in the world by the World Drink Awards.
Vodka has been around in the U.S. for some time, but it really took off when American and Russia were allies during World War II and has been growing ever since. Since 1970 vodka has been the most consumed liquor by volume and American vodka brands are rising in both status and in volume throughout the country.
