On July 15, a new law on wine refrigeration was passed. The Department of Energy’s ruling will require “manufacturers to test the energy efficiency of refrigerators used for wine.” Under the rule, wine will be classified under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act and make temperature tests a necessity as well. The regulations for the testing system will cost small businesses an average of $12,500. The law will go into effect 30 days from the 15th of July.
